The Cable Guy
Rated PG 13, 1 hour 36 Minutes
Starring: Jim Carrey and Matthew Broderick
Chip is lonely Ernie Douglas, just wanting to have a friend - regardless of the cost. He calls Steve over & over and follows him around. He's so obsessed with becoming his friend that he kidnapps Steve's girlfriend when he realizes Steve doesn't like him. It's sort of a weird movie... probably a C+
Here is what the cover has to say:
Jim Carrey is Chip Douglas, cable installer. Raised on television sitcoms, he wants life to look just like My Three Sons. And when he meets single-guy Steven Kovacs (Matthew Broderick), he sees his chance for some serious male bonding. But Chip's idea of friendship - which includes physical assault, a game of 'Porno Password' and a medieval joust, may be hazardous to Steven's health. In Chip's own immortal words, "I can be your best friend.... or your worst enemy."
Directed by Ben Stiller (Reality Bites), the Cable Guy is "the perfect comedy for the TV generation. Jim Carrey's comic genius is frightening."
